Enter The Telly Awards!

Do you have a video project that you really love?  Submit it to us for a chance to have your award entry paid for by the department.   Entries will be judged by Mr. Maier and Ms. Carmody.  We will be collecting entries for the next week.  Deadline  is February 18th at 1 p.m.  Please put all projects on Carmody's hard drive in the Telly Award folder.  The category for student submissions is non-broadcast production-student.

Managing Producer and Web Program Manager


News Talk 1110 WBT is looking for a sharp and dedicated individual with entry level experience for a full-time position as a Morning Show Managing Producer and Web Program Manager. This position works to ensure the timely and successful execution of Charlotte’s Morning News through teamwork and coordination with the hosts, news department and technical producers, along with the direction and content of the website.  This position reports directly to the Program Director.

 

Position Description

Responsibilities include managing and organizing the daily content for the Charlotte’s Morning News brand, booking guests, operating the board, screening phone calls, and managing daily show meetings.  In addition, the candidate will oversee the direction and content of the entire WBT website including our social networking, research and digital strategies.  Qualifications for a successful candidate will include:  familiarity with board operation and call screening, a knowledge of audio vault and adobe audition, and proficient skills in website graphic design programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Final Cut.  This position requires an individual who exhibits great interpersonal communication skills, is an enthusiastic and dynamic team player, is interested in demanding projects and enjoys working in a fast paced environment.   Availability to work some weekends and evenings is required.

New Equipment Policies and Procedures









Due to a shift in tutors, we will be posting new equipment hours early next week.

The following procedures are still in place:

Video classes are 9-1 Monday-Thursdays.  Any overnight equipment must be be returned by 8:45 in the morning.  Students not in the class happening that day must wait until 1 p.m. to check out camera equipment. 

In-class check-outs and check-ins are now restricted to the beginning and end of the class period.  No equipment will be checked out after 9:30 in the morning and equipment cannot be returned until 12:30 pm.   Please see your instructor if there is an extenuating circumstance (a personal project is not an extenuating circumstance).

Also, students must demonstrate competency with the following equipment prior to check-out:

Wireless Mics
Boom Mic
GlideCam
Audio Recorders
Lights

Please be respectful to the tutors and instructors as we work to enforce this process.  Remember, equipment check-out is a privilege, not a right.

Graduating?

Graduating? Students earning a diploma or A.A.S degree at the end of this semester need to fill out a graduation application by February 11th.  Applications are available in the Dean's office. Take the application to your advisor after filling it out.

Students earning certificates: We fill out that paperwork at the end of the semester.  Let your advisor know when you have completed certificate requirements.

WSGE Announcer Workshop

Ever want to be part of your favorite radio station? We’re looking for volunteer DJs! The announcing workshop will begin on Tuesday, February 12th. Interested? Submit your application here. Hurry, because enrollment is limited and applications are due February 6th!
